What are the advantages of hierarchical database models?

Advantages of hierarchical model

  • Hierarchical database model is a simple model to represent the database connectivity of entity to entity.
  • This model creates in the one direction which is straightforward top to bottom that makes it so simple.

hierarchical model direction of database

  • It is a natural database model to represent very fast and easily.
  • It is basic understanding that the model which has the project base is the top of the head known as parent.
  • In this model the parent represent the base of the project entity and the child represents the sub entity of the project and gives the basic details of the project.
  • It represents the usual method of tool to set the record relationships of the entity.
  • The hierarchical database model is very useful for hierarchical characters when we have some hierarchical character data to represent the connection of their characters with the basic entity using parent, child and their connection line.

Can hierarchical database models display all types of information?

No, it is not true that the hierarchical database model does not provide all types of information because it is a simple type hierarchical structure that cannot display all types of information.
It is based on the grand parent to child entity used in the hierarchical model to display the information.


the diagram shows only simplicity of the hierarchical database to provide the grand parent, parent and child entity only which is three database model for display few information


The complex information cannot be display properly in the entity and shows the hierarchical characters to read only and mention the single word meaning to show the connection between child to parent and parent to grandparent entity in the model.
It covers the large space to develop the database model to display the information connected only three layers basically on Grand parent, Parent and Child.
